CHAIR OF GOVERNORS

des Coulter

Des Coulter

I became a parent Governor in November 2004 and have chosen to sit on the Buildings and Finance Working Panel. I volunteered to become a governor as I wanted to put something back into the community in which I live.

I am married to Rosemary and have two children at the school. I am a Chartered Tax Advisor and look after the personal tax affairs of the partners at a large law firm in London.

In my spare time I folow the fortunes of the lost cause that is known as Blackpool football club.

I became a Governor in July 2005. I volunteered to be a Governor because I wanted to give back some of the joy I have had in teaching. I was a primary school teacher for thirty-three years in Surrey and loved every minute. I moved to North Waltham when I retired and I have watched the village grow and the school expand.  I would like to offer back a little of my experience to the children, staff and Governors, of this hard working, committed North Waltham School. These children are our future and we must ensure they have the best.

My interests are reading, gardening and Roman history. I am a member of Basingstoke Archaeological and History Society and The Basingstoke Talking History group, where we interview long standing residents on a variety of topics, recording their memories on tape.  Iam also a member of our own North Waltham,Steventon and Deane History group, the Woman's Institute and serve on the village trust.

I became a parent Governor in June 2004 and have chosen to be part of the Buildings and Finance, and the curriculum working panels. I enjoy  working with the staff and fellow Governors to maintain the current high standards.

I am married to Karen, who is chair of the friends Committee and we have three children at the school. We have lived in North Waltham for ten years I work in Basingstoke as a Project Engineering Manager for a Finnish process controls company.

John McCarthy

I volunteered to become a Governor of the school in May 2005, just in time for the school holidays. I had some free time on my hands, and felt that it would be good if I could contribute something to the running of this hugely successful school.

I am a civil engineer, and currently work for Bachy Soletanche, one of the larger foundation companies in Europe. I am currently based in Godalming.

I am married to Rachel who has been an active Friends member for some time. We have two children at the school. We moved to North Waltham in 2001, which shortened my commute time to work. The company I worked for, shortly afterwards, relocated to East London. We liked living in the village, so I changed jobs rather than addresses.

Terry Woodfin

Terry Woodfin

Terry Woodfin is married with three children and two grand-children and moved to the village in 2000. He worked for BP as an engineer designing new chemical processes for most of his career. He has recently retired and is an active member of St Michael’s church in the village. As part of that activity he has helped his wife and other members of the church to form a new after-school club called Seekers (a sort of mid-week Sunday School). It was through this activity that he got to know more about the school and how dedicated it was to providing the best possible education to the children. He is now a Local Authority Governor for the school.
